Privacy and data retention
DocSlice is built so that your documents stay yours. This page says plainly what happens to them.
Where documents are processed
Documents are processed in Frankfurt, Germany, and the AI and OCR provider is European.
What is kept, and for how long
| What | Kept | Deleted |
|---|---|---|
| The uploaded file | Only while it is being processed | Immediately afterwards, whether the conversion succeeded or failed |
| The result of an asynchronous job | 24 hours | Automatically, 24 hours after the job completed (result_expired) |
| Usage metadata: file name, pages, time and status, never the content | 12 months | After 12 months |
| Your account, API keys and usage history | Until you delete your account | Immediately when you delete it; backups are cleared within 30 days |
For OCR the file is sent to the provider, and its deletion there is requested right after processing; if that request fails it is retried later.
A synchronous answer is returned to you and nothing of its content is stored.
What is never done
- Your documents are never used to train models by DocSlice, and the AI and OCR provider account is set up so that API data is not used for training.
- Your documents go only to the AI and OCR provider needed to produce your answer; they are not shared or sold in any other way.
- Your API key is stored only as a fingerprint, so it cannot be read back.
Your choices
- Delete an asynchronous result sooner by simply not keeping it: it disappears after 24 hours.
- Delete your whole account at any time from the dashboard.
- Ask a question about your data at hello@docslice.app.
